Case study - Integrated Year 9 class at Wellington High School
The background
Jane Poata is an English teacher at Wellington High School and also has an integrated class at the Year 9 level. Jane attended a series of four one hour workshops run by the TIG project coordinator at Wellington High School in March 2009. She also came to a full day workshop funded by the Wellington Loop project.
Since the workshops, Jane has
been experimenting with the TakingITGlobal virtual classroom tools. Her
students have submitted work via the TakingITGlobal site and have
learned how to set up their own profile pages.
Jane has also used the TakingITGlobal site to make
contact with a Canadian teacher. They have set up a collaborative
project between their two classes based around the theme of 'Water'. In
the video below, Jane shares her thoughts about this collabortive
project and talks about the impact it has had both on herself as a
learner and on the students in her integrated class.
